A project to deepen the Brownsville Ship Channel has been completed, allowing for larger ships to access the port. The channel is now 10 feet deeper than before. The entrance and jetty channels have increased in depth from 44 feet to 54 feet.

This change is expected to bring new growth to the area. Further details about the project and its celebration at the port are available from the City of Brownsville. Federal, local, and private partners were involved in the project and gathered to mark its completion.
