In the Rio Grande Valley, an effort is underway to encourage kids and teens to explore nature. Quinta Mazatlán, an urban nature sanctuary in McAllen, is hosting a photo contest for young photographers. The goal is to get children outside and discovering the beauty of South Texas.

The contest is open to kids aged 5 to 18, with permission from a parent or guardian. It is free to enter, and participants can submit multiple photos. Further details on the contest rules and submission guidelines are available.

More information on the Southern Exposures Youth Nature Photo Contest can be found through Quinta Mazatlán and its partner, Valley Land Fund.
