The South Padre Island Marine Park project has hit a delay. A joint permit application that was expected to be submitted around June 19 will now take another month to prepare. The Economic Development Corporation's Vice President, Gayle Hood, informed the EDC Board of Directors of the delay at their June 16 meeting.

Preliminary coordination with regulatory agencies is the cause of the setback. Further details about the project and its permit application process are available from the Port Isabel Press. The project is focused on the causeway area and involves environmental considerations, including mangroves and seagrass.
